I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of Hi-Res Audio, using a Fiio M9 and a Qobuz Studio subscription.

It’s been a journey that has brought back the sheer joy in listening to music again. I thought I had a lost my “producer’s ear” over the years, but it sounds like it’s still there!

I need to think of a name for a new drink…Disaronno mixed with the new Orange Vanilla Coke.

The name “iPhone XS” just sounds like a Las Vegas nightclub to me.

Ólafur Arnalds on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert Series

This is an absolutely beautiful performance. Also, the technology behind his instrument(s) is awesome!

Happiness is sitting in a warm conference room, trying to configure a piece of hardware, only to find that crew that did the cabling didn’t hook up any of the ports in the room.

Then, spending the next hour trying to get everything cabled and configured.

3 hours later…

Django Django on Morning Becomes Eclectic

An excellent interview and some great tunes from their new album, Marble Skies. Take a listen if you have a few minutes.

Today I learned of the art of Japanese Iced Coffee.

It’s the pour-over method, but you only use half the amount of water you’d normally use, replace it with ice, and pour the hot water over the grounds onto the ice.

It makes for an amazing fresh cup of iced coffee!

Spending the day selecting old B&W movies from the Internet Archive, such as Phantom of the Opera and Night of the Living Dead, isn’t a horrible way to spend a rainy Wednesday…

There is an electric car in space. Launched by a rocket with reused parts that landed back on earth by a billionaire who wants to colonize Mars.

We’re in peak 21st Century now, boys.

…and now, my favourite Christmas song.

Christmas at Ground Zero by Weird Al Yankovic

When you’re at an Irish pub and Try a Little Tenderness comes on, but it’s the version by The Commitments so that makes it ok in your mind.

I’m in Woodford County, KY for the weekend, and all I can think about is Bourbon.

I always claim that Ryan Adams was my first country music show, but he’s not really Country. So, I’m making up for it by seeing Garth Brooks tonight.

I had to burn a CD today. I don’t remember it taking this long to write 8 tracks…

Tea. Earl Grey (Crème). Hot. (w/ blackberry-infused honey, and cream)

Only the best way to watch S2 of The Crown, indeed.

Feeling particularly productive today. Finished Christmas shopping with the wife, fixed my old Raspberry Pi 2, and cleaned the house. Not too shabby…

The Spotify Sessions: Covers playlist is pretty fantastic.

I’ve found some great covers on here (Ed Sheeran playing “…Baby One More Time” is awesome).

Been jamming to this list all morning.

Just found the feasibility study for a project that I worked on in Buffalo/Niagara back in 2012.

I totally forgot that I worked on this. I don’t even remember if we ended up completing this project or not.

Just started and finished my Christmas shopping. It took me less than 10m.

Well, that was a great meeting. All my projects for 2018 were approved with the exception of one (with good reason). I’d say that’s pretty successful.

Just deployed two iPad Minis into the wild.

I wish them godspeed, and hope they don’t end up stolen.

Just finished ‘Origin’, the new Robert Langdon book by Dan Brown.

Wasn’t great, but still really good. Deals a lot with religion v. science, and even has some AI morality thrown into it.

I gave it 5/5 on Goodreads, but it’s more of a 4.5 because it was a bit slow in parts.
